Brian Lara expressed his frustration after the third one-day international between West Indies and Zimbabwe in Georgetown, Guyana on Saturday was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain.

"We wanted to get as much as we could get out of this series," West Indies captain Lara told reporters.

"That includes preparation, and it includes the actual cricket.

"These two weeks is a situation where we are getting ourselves ready for greater things.

"Every possible bit of cricket is necessary, and this in itself is frustrating."

India are due to play the first of five one-day internationals against West Indies in Jamaica on May 18, after which they will play four Tests.

The West Indies lead the seven-match series against Zimbabwe 2-0 following victories by five wickets and 98 runs in Antigua last weekend.

The weather forecast for Sunday, when the fourth match is also scheduled to be played in Georgetown, is for more rain.
