Virender Sehwag will play in the first one-dayer against England after being "declared fit" on Sunday.
"Sehwag has been declared fit," Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Niranjan Shah told PTI ahead of the match to be played at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Sehwag, who injured his back during the third and final Test in Mumbai this week, was assessed by team physio John Gloster during the team's practice session this evening.
The Delhi batsman went through the drills with the rest of the teammates.
The swashbuckling opener showed minor signs of discomfort during the fitness drills but executed a few aerial shots when he batted.
Curiously, at a press briefing, BCCI Media Committee member G S Walia said a decision on Sehwag's availability would be made only on Monday.
