Harmison ruled out of ODIs

England's [ Images ] injury woes continued in India [ Images ] as fast bowler Steve Harmison [ Images ] was ruled out of the forthcoming one-day international series because of a bone stress injury to his right shin.

Harmison, who missed the third Test because of a sore shin, would be flown home and his place in the ODI squad will be taken by Matthew Hoggard [ Images ].

"Stephen (Harmison) is still experiencing pain in his right shin and with the Test Series against Sri Lanka [ Images ] due to start in early May, we have decided that the safest course of action is to rest him from the forthcoming One-Day Series here in India," ECB chief medical officer Peter Gregory said..

"He has been advised to rest the injury pending a further re-assessment in the UK."

England are already missing captain Michael Vaughan [ Images ], fast bowler Simon Jones and spinner Ashley Giles because of injuries.

Opener Marcus Trescothick [ Images ] left the tour before the start of the first Test because of personal reasons.

The first one-day international will be played in New Delhi [ Images ] on March 28.
