That unfinished job of 2002 was completed in sensational fashion on Sunday as the legendary leg-spinner bowled India to a series triumph in the Caribbean, the first since 1971.
It was also India's first win outside the subcontinent in 20 years.
Kumble finished with six wickets for 78 runs as India beat the West Indies by 49 runs in the fourth and final Test at Kingston, Jamaica.
