"This is a very good batting wicket. There are chances that we can win it. But there are better chances that we might save it," an optimistic Chappell told reporters at the National Stadium in Karachi.
"In the last two Tests, we have faced huge totals and we had to try and catch up. But the boys have done it. No one really knows what would happen," he added.
Pakistan finished day three on 511 for five in their second innings on Tuesday to extend their lead over India to 518 runs.
Looking back at the turn of events in the deciding Test, Chappell traced the difference in the teams to the bowling department.
"Fast bowlers have proved to be the difference. They (Pakistan) have got some fast bowlers that we don't have," he said.

"Yes, we could have got them out cheaper or scored more runs.
But then we can't go back now. So we are better off dealing with the situation that stands," he said.
To a question as to why Pakistan has not declared despite leading by over 500 runs, Chappell said, "Maybe, because it's possible to get that. This is a good batting track. And they have to decide how much time they need to take wickets," he added.
