The Pakistan Cricket Board has said it has no plans to invite Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to watch any match of the India-Pakistan series beginning on January 13.
"It's all speculation about the Indian Prime Minister's visit to Rawalpindi. The Pakistan Cricket Board cannot on its own, send an invitation to any Indian government official to come and watch a match. We've to do this through the government channels and so far we've no plans of sending any invitation," a PCB official said.
The official said if the Government wished it could invite any Indian Government official as they had been submitted the itinerary by the Board.
"If the Pakistan government wants to invite any Indian government official for any match it has the itinerary and can do it. But we are not authorised to do anything directly, our invitations are limited to non-government figures," the official was quoted as saying by Pakistan newspaper The News on Saturday.
He, however, said the PCB would welcome the Indian Premier's visit, as it would be another step towards speeding up the peace process between the two countries.
"But our government takes such decisions. If we are asked to do something we'll do it," he added.
He said invitations had been sent out to several former Indian captains and other dignitaries for various matches of the series.
