It is official! With the selection committee ''looking towards the future'', former India skipper Sourav Ganguly's illustrious career in international cricket is as good as over, Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Niranjan Shah hinted on Thursday.
''The selection committee says it wants to look towards the future; it does not want look to backwards now. This is what Kiran More has said in his press conference. I think Sourav Ganguly now stands a slim chance to play in future,'' Shah told BBC Hindi.
He also stressed the need to give 'young legs' a chance.''We have to build a team for the future, that is why the selection committee decided to give a chance to the youngsters. It is the selection committee's decision and they feel his being in the team is not proper,'' Shah said.
Asked pointedly whether Ganguly's cricketing career is over now, Shaha replied, ''I think the selection committee feels so and as has been said by Kiran More; they now want to look towards the future.''
