Sourav Ganguly sparkled with an all-round performance and opener Subhamoy Das struck an unbeaten hundred as Bengal thrashed Jharkhand by nine wickets in their second East Zone Ranji Trophy one-dayer in Kolkata on Monday.
Ganguly, the cynosure of all eyes, put up an all-round performance scoring a magnificent 72 and then returning with a figure of 2/39 while bowling, as Bengal posted consecutive wins in their Ranji one-day campaign.
Facing a modest target of 246, Bengal rode on a 159-run opening partnership between Das (126 not out; 132 b, 16x4, 2x6) and Ganguly (72; 91 b, 5x4, 4x6) to amass 248 for 1 in 43.2 overs.
Earlier electing to bat, Jharkhand survived early jolts as Sourav Tiwary (66; 86 b, 12x4) and captain Rajiv Kumar (77 not out; 109 b, 6x4) led their side to a decent total of 245 for 9 in 50 overs.

In reply, Ganguly and Das made the spadework before the left-hander was caught by substitute Shahid Khan off a Manish Vardhan delivery.
Youngster Avishek Jhunjhunwala (not out 26) joined Das in the middle to finish off the game.
