Saurashtra clinched their maiden Ranji Trophy Plate division title after scoring a comprehensive victory over Rajasthan by an innings and 34 runs in Rajkot on Sunday.

The hosts finished the formalities before lunch on the fourth day by bundling out Rajasthan for a paltry 173 in their second innings in 56.2 overs.

Saurashtra scored 408 in their first innings in reply to Rajasthan's first innings score of 201, taking a first-innings lead of 207 runs.

The visitors were left tottering at the brink at close of play on Saturday after they were reduced to 99 for five in their second innings.

Rajasthan skipper Ajay Jadeja was the only batsman to put up some resistance to the host's pace-spin combination of Sandip Jobanputra and Rakesh Dhruv with his fighting 80.

Jadeja's 119 ball knock was studded with 13 boundaries as he battled hard during his 167 minutes stay at the crease.

Resuming at their overnight score of 99 for five, Dishant Yagnik could add only one run to his overnight score before being bowled by Jobanputra for 22, who claimed all the five wickets yesterday.

The lower order batsmen tried hard to stick around their captain but defeat was looming large on them and it was just a matter of time before they gave away the fight.

Left-arm spinner Rakesh Dhruv cleaned up the lower order as he returned figures of 4 for 18 in 10.2 overs.

Medium pacer Jobanputra was the wrecker-in-chief claiming 6 for 77 to follow up on his half-century in Saurashtra's first innings.
