Riding on an inspiring spell by spinner Amit Mishra, Haryana bundled out Baroda for 169 to take a two-run first innings lead on the second day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Elite Group tie in Baroda on Tuesday.
At close of play at Motibag Ground, Haryana were 89 for 2, establishing an overall lead of 91 runs over Baroda with 8 wickets in hand. Sumit Sharma (45) and Deepak Joon (11) were at the crease.
Earlier, resuming at 41 for 2, the hosts were all out for 169. Connor Williams made a solid 58 with the help of 9 fours and stayed at the wicket for 174 minutes before being bowled by Mishra.
His departure triggered a batting collapse with the last seven wickets falling for addition of only 49 runs.
Good display of leg break bowling by Mishra helped Haryana bundle out Baroda cheaply and take a slander lead.
Mishra took five wickets giving away only 33 runs. He was well supported by his captain Joginder Sharma, who claimed 3 for 56.
In last match against Andhra Pradesh, Baroda had conceded 17-runs first inning lead and allowed the former to get two points and top the league table in the Elite Group.
It's a must win situation for Baroda if it wants to ensure a semi-final berth.
