Maharashtra trounced the promoted Rajasthan side by an innings and 250 runs to grab the full five points on offer in the Ranji Trophy Super League tie in Ratnagiri on Monday.

Rajasthan, reduced to 42 for 4 in the first at the close of the second day, were blown away for 86 in reply to Maharashtra's 527 and only marginally bettered their performance in the second innings, being bowled out for 191 in 69.4 overs on the third day of the match.

Maharashtra's new-ball bowlers, Anupam Sanclecha (5 for 54) and Aditya Dole (2 for 15) ripped open the inexperienced Rajasthan batting line-up. Only three of the batsmen could cross into double figures as the innings lasted only 25.2 overs.

Skipper Sairaj Bahutule returned with figures of 6 for 54 in the match (taking three wickets in each innings) but the surprise package was part-time bowler Dheeraj Jadhav finishing with a four-wicket haul in the second innings.

Rajasthan showed some resistance at the top in their second essay, but the team, without captain Ajay Jadeja, could not hold the fight to save the embarassment of an innings defeat.
