Punjab settled for a draw with Gujarat after bad light stopped play early on the fourth and final day of their Ranji Trophy Super League Group B match at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium in Mohali on Monday.
Resuming at the overnight 86 for 1, Gujarat lost Timil Patel after he added 39 runs in the 11.3 overs and were 125 for two when the umpires called off play early due to bad light and light drizzle.
Modi and Kirat Damani (13 not out) had added 28 runs for the third wicket when stumps were drawn.
Punjab had a first innings lead of 295 after scoring 503 for nine declared in reply to Gujarat's first innings total of 208.
Patel and opener Nilesh Modi (52 not out) added 79 for the second wicket.
Pankaj Dharmani caught Patel, who scored 39 with three hits to the fence, off a delivery from Gagandeep Singh when the board read 97.
