Wet weather has washed out the opening triangular series one-day international between Sri Lanka and South Africa on Monday.
An inspection for the day-night match scheduled for 4 pm was cancelled after heavy rain resumed in Colombo, leaving the umpires with no option other than to postpone the contest.
A reserve day has been set aside and the match will be played on Tuesday, weather-permitting.
The tournament, also involving India, runs until August 29.
