Windies showing means little: Agarkar

Paceman Ajit Agarkar says his fine performance on the West Indies tour will mean little to him when he bowls in the Unitech Cup cricket tri-series and he would have to start afresh all over again.

"You take confidence from a good series but confidence alone doesn't help. At the end of the day you need to perform well on the given day," Agarkar said after the team's practice session in Colombo.

"You need to go and bowl the ball on the right spot. You have to start afresh all over again."

Agarkar was India's best seamer on view, with nine wickets from five matches in the one-dayers on the recent tour of the Caribbean, but found himself dropped from the squad for the subsequent Test series.

But isn't starting afresh for each series difficult, especially given the fact that he was not in the Test squad and plays a competitive match after a gap?

"Not really. I mean, everyone does that. I take each day as it comes ... am not really worried about the past," he said.

"I stay focussed on the present. I don't think about which form of the game I am playing anymore."

The Mumbai player said he is enjoying the responsibility of leading India's pace attack in the one-day team.

"Yes, any player would want to have responsibility. I enjoy it, not only the responsibility, but also the pressure that comes with it," the 28-year-old said.
