India [ Images ] opener Gautam Gambhir [ Images ] will lead the Rest of India team against Ranji champions Railways in the season-opening Irani Trophy match, to be played in Delhi [ Images ] from October 1 to 5.

The team was picked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India's senior selection committee, which met in Bangalore on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Kiran More.

The team: Gautam Gambhir (captain), Dheeraj Jadhav, Shikar Dhawan, Robin Uthappa [ Images ], Venugopal Rao [ Images ] (vice-captain), Suresh Raina [ Images ], Neeraj Patel, Parthiv Patel [ Images ] (wicket-keeper), Ramesh Pawar, Ram Kumar, R P Singh, Sreesanth [ Images ], Ranadeep Bose, Amit Bhandari and V R V Singh.
