Sachin Tendulkar equalled former Pakistan all rounder Wasim Akram's world record for most one-day international appearances on Saturday, in the second one-day international against South Africa in Bangalore.
Tendulkar, 32, is playing in his 356th match. He already holds the records for most one-day runs (13,875) and hundreds (38).
India captain Rahul Dravid won the toss and chose to bowl first against South Africa, who are 1-0 up in the five-match series after their five-wicket victory in the opening match in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
South Africa omitted paceman Charl Langeveldt, who failed a fitness test after suffering a back strain in Hyderabad.
He was replaced by all rounder Andrew Hall.
The hosts retained the same team.
