Rahul Dravid's importance to the Indian side is such that when he fails with the bat, India invariably ends up losing.

Among the senior batsmen in the Indian team, the vice-captain has the highest average, 79.08, in Tests victories. Sachin Tendulkar is a close second with an average of 67.20.

Dravid's batting average is the second highest in matches 'won' after Don Bradman (130.08) among all batsmen who have aggregated at least 5,000 runs in their career.

Statistician Rajneesh Gupta presents a statistical analysis of how India's top batsmen fare in wins and losses.
