• It was the eighth occasion when Tendulkar made fifty plus scores in each innings of a Test. The break-up: thrice v Australia [ Images ] (116 & 52 at Melbourne [ Images ] in 1999-00; 76 & 65 at Mumbai [ Images ] Wankhede in 2000-01; 241* & 60* at Sydney [ Images ] in 2003-04), twice v England [ Images ] (68 & 119* at Manchester in 1990; 177 & 74 at Nottingham in 1996) and once each v West Indies [ Images ] (179 & 54 at Nagpur in 1994-95), v Sri Lanka [ Images ] (53 & 124* at Colombo SSC in 1998-99) and now v Pakistan.

• Tendulkar is now one short of equalling Sunil Gavaskar's Indian record of most occasions of fifty plus scores in both innings of a Test (later Dravid also emulated Tendulkar with eighth such instance of his Test career). The Test record is on the name of Australia's Allan Border [ Images ] with 13 such instances.

• Tendulkar's 52 is now the highest individual score made by an India [ Images ]n batsman in an innings. The previous highest such score was 47 by Virender Sehwag [ Images ] versus Australia at Adelaide in 2003-04. Incidentally the highest identical individual score made in both innings of a Test is 105 by Sri Lanka's Duleep Mendis (versus India at Chennai in 1982-83).
