Pakistan will press hard for the introduction of two neutral umpires in One-Day Internationals when the International Cricket Council meets in New Delhi on Thursday and Friday.

"We would definitely go all out for support of the proposal that was initiated by our Board nearly 40 days back. We want to have neutral umpires at both ends in the limited-overs internationals on the pattern of Test matches," said Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan, who left for Delhi on Monday to attend the meeting.

"This way we would definitely see less controversy in the shorter version of the game," he said.

Pakistan had proposed to introduce two neutral umpires in one-dayers following their team's defeat at the hands of Australia in the triangular series finals.

Some close decisions went against Pakistan in the series and the PCB immediately wrote a letter to ICC, requesting them for introducing neural umpires at both ends in ODIs.

"We know this way there would be less controversy and if the ICC panel is officiating Test matches they could also make arrangements for One-day Internationals," Shaharyar said.

The PCB chief hoped that other countries would also back Pakistan's demand to introduce neutral umpires in one-dayers.

"I hope other Boards would also second the PCB proposal as it is for the betterment of all," Shaharyar said.

The PCB chief said another important matter to be discussed during the two-day meeting would be to make adjustments in Test matches played by weaker teams.

"Some of the leading cricket Boards are not in favour of playing too many Tests against weaker opponents like Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.

"They are of the opinion that since they could not generate the required amount from hosting a series against these teams, a separate system should be adopted for engaging these teams in home and away series," the PCB chairman said.

Shaharyar said the Boards of these countries want to play fewer Tests against weaker opponents on home soil.

"They believe that by hosting weaker teams, they only run into loss and less Tests and less series against these teams is the only way out," he said.

The PCB chairman also plans to visit Kolkata to watch Pakistan in action against India on the last two days of the second Test.
