Captain Habibul Bashar was in jubilant mood after Bangladesh scored a shock five-wicket win over world champions Australia [ Images ] in a triangular series one-day match on Saturday.
"I am the happiest man in the world today," said Bashar at the presentation ceremony. "This win can take us a long way.
"We have been struggling but after this match we can improve in our next few games and we can do a lot of things.
"From the previous match we played (against England [ Images ] on Thursday) we have started to not give up...we have batted hard and we have worked hard."
In reply to Australia's 249 for five in 50 overs, Mohammad Ashraful [ Images ] thumped a run-a-ball century, only the second scored in one-dayers by a Bangladeshi, as his side won with four balls to spare.
Before the start Australia were 500-1 ON with bookmakers Coral to beat Bangladesh, the lowest-ranked one-day team in the International Cricket Council [ Images ] table. Bangladesh were 50-1 against with Skybet though as low as 16-1 with two other firms.
Bangladesh had not beaten Australia in six previous one-day meetings. They had only defeated two of the leading test sides before, Pakistan and India [ Images ], in 107 games.
THREE DEFEATS
Australia have now lost three matches in a row, following the Twenty20 [ Images ] loss by England on Monday and the one-day defeat by Somerset on Wednesday.
Skipper Ricky Ponting [ Images ] said: "It's not a great start (to the tour) for us, there's no doubt about that.
"I probably misinterpreted the wicket a little bit this morning. The ball nipped around for a fair while, which I didn't think it would do.
"But the Bangladeshis made the most of the conditions this morning and then played very, very well this afternoon.
"We've got a lot of thinking to do and a lot of work to do and we haven't got much time to do it. We've got a game tomorrow (against England), so it's going to be a long bus trip (to Bristol) tonight."
Asked if he was getting ready to press the panic button, Ponting replied: "No, but it's getting close...trust me".
