National Test stars Irfan Pathan and Harbhajan Singh found themselves on opposing sides in the ongoing Frizzell County Championships in England. On day one of the four day game at Lord's, Pathan at stumps had made 33 not out off 59 deliveries, with six fours, in Middlesex' score of 319/7.

For opponents Surrey, Bajji -- who, in the evening session, found himself bowling to Pathan -- had figures of 24-8-57-1, having taken the wicket of JWM Dalyrymple, the Middlesex top scorer (77 off 143). Dalyrymple and Pathan were engaged in a 24-run stand before the former's dismissal.

Saurav Ganguly, the only other Indian to figure in county action today, found his team on the receiving end of a leather hunt in Cardiff, where Kent piled up 357/7 against Glamorgan on day one of the four-day game. Ganguly's contribution -- besides in the field -- was a spell of 3-0-8-0.
