McGrath joins 500-club

Glenn McGrath [ Images ] claimed his 500th wicket in Tests when he dismissed England [ Images ] opener Marcus Trescothick [ Images ] on day one of the first Ashes Test at Lord's in London [ Images ] on Thursday.

Trescothick was caught off the first ball after the tea interval, by Justin Langer in the slips, for 4.

Earlier, Steve Harmison [ Images ] took 5 for 43 to bowl out Australia [ Images ] for 190.

The famed Aussie batting lasted just 40.2 overs as Andrew Flintoff [ Images ] and Simon Jones claimed two wickets each.

McGrath, 35, is fourth on the list of Test wicket-takers, behind Shane Warne [ Images ] (583), Muttiah Muralitharan [ Images ] (539) and Courtney Walsh [ Images ] (519).
