Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has delayed the announcement of Waqar Younis as their bowling coach for this month' tour of India until next week.
A spokesman of the PCB said from Lahore that in principle, it has been agreed that Waqar will be the bowling coach "but the modalities of the contract have yet to be discussed and finalised."
The spokesman added that Younis, who returned from Australia early Saturday morning, was scheduled to meet PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan in Lahore on Monday.
"If all goes well, the decision might be announced on the same day.
"But during the selection committee meeting (on Saturday afternoon), Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and coach Bob Woolmer demanded Waqar as bowling coach (for the Indian tour) and their demand was immediately accepted by the selectors and the top PCB hierarchy."
Waqar Younis, according to local media reports, wants a long term asociation with Pakistan cricket.
Since his retirement from international cricket last year in April, the former tearaway fast bowler has been attached with electronic media.
