Pakistan says it will consider playing a One-Day International in Ahmedabad, the venue it has reservations about playing a Test on the forthcoming tour of India.
"I have proposed that you can shift the Test match from Ahmedabad to Mumbai and if a match is necessary in Ahmedabad then we are ready to play a one day match there," Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan told Hamid Mir, editor of the Islamabad-based Daily.
India's External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh, who held an hour-long meeting with Khan over breakfast in Islamabad earlier on Thursday morning had indicated Pakistan's willingness to play a one-dayer in Ahmebadad.
"During the meeting, Shaharyar said that Pakistan has no objection to playing a Test match in Mumbai and may consider a one-dayer in Ahmedabad. But this would require clearance,"
Natwar Singh told reporters on the flight from Islamabad to Lahore.
Pakistan had expressed reservations over playing in Ahmedabad, which witnessed communal riots in 2002, citing security reasons.
Meanwhile in Islamabad, Shaharyar told reporters that he would hold telephonic discussions with BCCI to resolve the differences over playing in Ahmedabad.
"I will be speaking to BCCI officials today to sort out the issue relating to Ahmedabad," he said.
"I am sure we will be sorting out the entire issue over the venues today as we have very little time left."
