Sehwag joins a select band

Virender Sehwag [ Images ] on Thursday joined the select band of players who registered a win in their first ever Test as India's [ Images ] captain.

Sehwag is sixth Indian player to do so, which includes the names of Polly Umrigar, Sunil Gavaskar [ Images ], Ravi Shastri, Sachin Tendulkar [ Images ] and Sourav Ganguly [ Images ].

Shastri - the previous record-holder for the biggest win by an Indian on captaincy debut - never captained India in a Test again.
