India will move into the second spot in International Cricket Council's Test rankings following the crushing 2-0 series win against Sri Lanka.
The series win will help India take its tally to 115, two more than England's.
Before the three-Test series with Sri Lanka started, India was third in the rankings, a point behind second-placed England, which had 113.
England had an opportunity to gain ground on India, but they fared poorly in its three-Test series against Pakistan and failed to increase their tally.
Sri Lanka will shed five points, but will retain their seventh position on the table, way ahead of West Indies who have 73 points.
Australia lead the rankings with 128 points.
