As has been the case for the last three days, the start of play on day four in the third and final Test between India and Sri Lanka was delayed due to heavy dew on the outfield.

The fourth day's play will start at 1000 IST, instead of the scheduled 0930 start.

India are in a commanding position, having scored a healthy 287 for 9 in their second innings at the end of day 3, a huge lead of 479 runs over Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Murali Karthik rejoined the Indian squad in Ahmedabad after playing for Railways in the Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai.

He left on the eve of the third Test, on Saturday, to play in the match.
