Rahul Dravid's decision to declare the Indian innings shortly after lunch on day 4 of the second Test left Yuvraj Singh stranded 23 runs short of his second Test century. But the dashing southpaw had no qualms about it, saying he was happy to play his part for the team.
Asked whether the decision to declare took him by surprise, Yuvraj replied, ''Not at all. I'm not disappointed. I'm happy to play my role and I was playing for my team there. The decision to declare was discussed during lunch and I was told to be positive in the next overs."
Told that his knock would create problems for the selectors, Yuvraj said, ''Yes, I think I have created that."
Talking about his knock, he said, ''I started slowly and it was good to bring up the 300 with Sourav (Ganguly). That really helped. I wanted to spend some time out there in the middle and stay till the end.
"Test matches are rated higher, and when you do well in Tests it gives you lot of confidence.''
Asked if he had a special plan for Muttiah Muralitharan, he replied: ''Not exactly. I was positive when playing him, but at the same time was aware that he is the guy who picked up all those wickets in the first innings. In the end, I think I played him well.''
