India's [ Images ] opening batsman Virender Sehwag [ Images ] was ruled out of the second Test against Sri Lanka [ Images ] on Saturday because of a fever and throat infection.
The attacking batsman was dropped from the side after he was admitted to hospital and put on a drip, with doctors advising him rest for a few days.
His place was taken by in-form batsman Yuvraj Singh [ Images ], which was the only change to the side.
Indian captain Rahul Dravid [ Images ] won the toss and elected to bat on a pitch where seamers are expected to get some help on a winter morning.
Sri Lanka retained the same team which dominated the severely rain-affected, drawn first Test in Chennai.
The start of play was delayed as the umpires found too much dew on the ground.
