Ashish Nehra on Tuesday joined the selected band of bowlers who ended on the losing side despite taking six wickets in a match.

Here-under is the complete list:

Figures Bowler For Vs Venue Date
6-14 Imran Khan Pak Ind Sharjah 22 Mar 1985
6-23 SE Bond NZ Aus Port Elizabeth 11 Mar 2003
6-35 SM Pollock SA WI East London 24 Jan 1999

6-50 AH Gray WI Aus Port-of-Spain 09 Mar 1991
6-59 A Nehra Ind SL Colombo RPS 09 Aug 2005

Nehra's figures are the best by an Indian against Sri Lanka obliterating Robin Singh's 5 for 22 at Guwahati in 1997-98. Nehra also became the first Indian bowler to take six wickets on more than one occasion.

The earlier such occasion for him was in the World Cup 2003 match against England. Best bowling figures by Indians in One-Day Internationals:

Figures Bowler Opponent Venue Date

6-23 A Nehra Eng Durban 26 Feb 2003
6-42 AB Agarkar Aus Melbourne 09 Jan 2004
6-59 A Nehra SL Colombo RPS 09 Aug 2005

In fact Nehra became only the fourth bowler in all ODIs to take six wickets in a match on two occasions. Waqar Younis has done so on most occasions - Five.

Most six-wicket hauls in ODIs
Waqar Younis (Pak) - 5 times
HK Olonga (Zim) - Twice
WPUJC Vaas (SL) - Twice
A Nehra (Ind) - Twice
