Sri Lanka all rounder Farveez Maharoof has been severely reprimanded for excessive appealing, an ICC statement said on Wednesday.

Maharoof's was named man-of-the-match after taking three wickets for nine runs against West Indies on Tuesday but faced a hearing afterwards for not turning around to appeal after Xavier Marshall was caught behind.

"ICC match referee Mike Proctor found Maharoof guilty for breaching Clause 1.5 of the ICC's Code of Conduct," the statement said.
