Court stays Dalmiya's appointment as patron-in-chief

A Chennai court has restrained the BCCI, till October 11, from confirming the appointment of its outgoing president Jagmohan Dalmiya as patron-in-chief of the Board.

The ad-interim injunction was passed yesterday by the VII Assistant Judge of the City Civil Court M Mohideenpitchai on a petition filed by one Bharathi Cricket Club of Chennai.

The petitioner had sought a direction to restrain the BCCI from passing a resolution as per the agenda at its two-day Annual General Meeting beginning in Kolkata on Wednesday for confirmation of Dalmiya's appointment.

Dalmiya was appointed the first ever Patron-in-Chief of the BCCI at its special meeting held here on September 12.
