Six people have been arrested on charges of betting during the ongoing first cricket Test between India [ Images ] and South Africa [ Images ] in Kanpur, police said on Monday.
Randhir Singh Rana, allegedly the leader of the gang, and his accomplices were arrested during a raid in Lajpat Nagar area of the city last night, they said.
A computer, some mobile and WLL phones, cheque books and Rs 30,000 in cash were recovered from the accused, they added.
Some documents, showing their alleged involvement in betting during the ICC [ Images ] Champions Trophy [ Images ] held in England [ Images ] in September, were also seized, police said.
Two persons were arrested during 2000 India-Zimbabwe series on charges of betting but Rana could not be arrested then, police said.
