Gautam Gambhir scored a majestic 151 as Delhi stamped its authority over Gujarat on the second day of Ranji Trophy league match in Ahmedabad on Monday.
Gambhir's knock boosted Delhi's total to 347 runs for four at close of play as the visitors piled on a lead of 133 runs. Gujarat had scored 214 in their first innings.
Gambhir shrugged off his poor show against Australia in the final Test in Mumbai and clobbered the hosts' bowlers to all parts of the Motera cricket ground.
The Delhi batsman, who was in excellent form hitting 20 fours, put up a fine partnership with Abhishek Sharma, who played well to reach 73 till he was deceived by spinner Timil Patel and caught behind by keeper Parthiv Patel.
Parthiv's luck with the gloves also showed improvement as he was instrumental in the dismissal of Gambhir, picking up a fine low one.
The back-to-back dismissals of Gambhir and Sharma however did not have any effect on the stroke-play of Mithun Manhas and ex-India keeper Vijay Dahiya, who played with gusto and scored 66 and 43 runs respectively.
