Unseasonal rains early Wednesday morning ruled out a prompt start to the fourth and final Test between India and Australia at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.

The plastic sheets covering the wicket and the adjacent square were full of water due to the rain, which has been falling steadily since around 0600 IST.

At the time of filing this report, it was still drizzling.

The two teams have reached the ground but have been unable to practice this morning because of the wet ground conditions.

It appears like the morning session of play will have to be ruled out.
