Hosts Maharashtra gained a vital first innings lead of 131 runs when they bowled out Madhya Pradesh for 370 runs on the penultimate day of their five-day Ranji Trophy Plate championship final against Madhya Pradesh in Pune on Monday.

Resuming at their overnight score of 250 for five, the visitors added another 120 runs and were bundled out for 370 runs as fast bowler Iqbal Siddiqui tore apart their batting line-up to finish with 5 wickets for 101.

The only grace in the Madhya Pradesh innings was their captain Devendra Bundela's 83 runs knock, studded with 10 fours and a six. The other batsmen could not withstand the fiery spells of Siddiqui (5/101) and Kiran Adhav (3/93).

Other notable contribution from Madhya Pradesh side was N Ojha 79, S Dholpure 38 and A Ali 33.

Maharashtra made 153 for 5 in their second innings as their opener batsman Dhiraj Jadhav (79) once again played a good knock. He had made 251 in the first innings.

Maharashtra batsman could not capitalise on better opening partnership of 111 runs between Niranjan Godbole (35) and Dhiraj Jadhav (79) to end at the close of 153 for five.

Captain Hrishikesh Kanitkar and Kaushik Aphale could not open their account and were sent to the pavilion by Y Golwalkar in quick succession.

D Mohan (24) and K Khadkikar (01) were not out batsman when the stumps were drawn.

Y Golwalkar (3/50) and A Ali (2/28) were the successful bowlers for Madhya Pradesh.
