·  Bangladesh recorded their first win on home soil in 36 matches. Overall it was their sixth win in 100 matches.

·  Bangladesh also recorded their maiden win against India in 13 matches.

·  Sourav Ganguly achieved the dubious distinction of becoming the first Indian captain to suffer defeat against 10 countries in ODIs. Ganguly has captained India against 13 countries and Namibia, Netherlands and UAE are the only countries to whom he has not lost a match. Ganguly, in the process, has gone past Mohammad Azharuddin's Indian record. Azharuddin had lost to 9 countries (with the exception of Bangladesh and UAE) during his tenure. Fellow teammate Sachin Tendulkar faced defeat against 8 different countries. The following table gives country-wise break-up of Ganguly's performance as a captain in shorter version of the game:

·  Ganguly has now equalled Zimbabwe's Heath Streak's world record of losing to most countries as a captain. The following table details the first loss suffered by Ganguly against each country:

·  The wicket of opener Nafis Iqbal was 200th for Ajit Agarkar in ODIs. He became fourth Indian after Anil Kumble (321 in 259 matches), Javagal Srinath (315 in 229) and Kapil Dev (253 in 225) and the 20th bowler to claim 200 wickets in One Day Internationals. 

·  Agarkar achieved this milestone in only his 133rd match to become the fastest among Indians to accomplish this feat. The previous record was held jointly by Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath with 147 matches. In all ODIs Agarkar is joint fifth fastest with Australia's Glenn McGrath and after Pakistan's Saqlain Mushtaq (104), South Africa's Allan Donald (117), Pakistan's Waqar Younis (118) and Australia's Shane Warne (125).

·  Having already aggregated 1,049 runs before this match, Agarkar also completed the all-round double of 1,000 runs and 200 wickets. Agarkar's feat of completing this double in 133 matches is the fastest in ODI history. Shaun Pollock, South African all-rounder, had completed his double in his 138th match.

·  Aftab Ahmed (67) made his career-best score in ODIs surpassing his 38 also against India in the first ODI at Chittagong. 

·  Mashrafe Mortaza (31) made his highest score surpassing his 28 against Sri Lanka at Pietermaritzburg on 14-02-2003.

·  Virender Sehwag was dismissed without scoring for the tenth time in his ODI career -- first time against Bangladesh. Sehwag's frequency of one duck in every 10.2 innings is the second highest among the 'genuine' batsmen for India (with a minimum qualification of 5 ducks in the career). WV Raman- with a duck in every 4.50 innings- had the worst record.

·  Sriram (57) made his highest score expunging his 12 on debut against South Africa at Nagpur on 19-03-2000.

·  Joginder Sharma (29*) made his highest score obliterating his unbeaten 5 in the first ODI at Chittagong. 

·  India (214) registered their lowest ever total against Bangladesh. In fact it was only the second time India were dismissed against Bangladesh. The only other occasion was at this same ground in April 2003, when India were dismissed for 276 in 49.3 overs. India, however, bundled out Bangladesh for a paltry 76 in that match.

·  The defeat was India's 200th on foreign soil. India became the third country to lose 200 or more matches on foreign soil after Pakistan (211) and Sri Lanka (202).
