After clearing the Indian cricket team's tour of Bangladesh, the government deputed a top police official to join the Indian team to oversee all the security arrangements on Thursday.
"The Government of India has advised that T K Deka, DIG, Security, to join the Indian cricket team during its tour of Bangladesh to ensure the implementation of various secuirty arrangements recommended by the Ministry of External Affairs security team," the Board of Control for Cricket in India revealed in a press release.
"This was agreed upon by the authorities concerned in Bangladesh," the release added.
Earlier in the day, the government gave the green signal to the Chittagong leg of the tour after it was agreed to strengthen security arrangements there.
The Dhaka leg of the tour, where the first Test will be played, had already been cleared.
India will take on Bangladesh in two Tests and three one-day internationals with the first Test beginning in Dhaka on Friday.
