Anil Kumble took his 850th wicket in first-class cricket when he dismissed Pakistani middle-order batsman Asim Kamal on the third day of the Lahore Test.
The leg-spinner was playing his 183rd match.
Kumble thus became only the sixth Indian bowler to achieve this distinction after Bishan Singh Bedi, S Venkataraghavan, Bhagwat Chandrasekhar, Erapally Prasanna and Dilip Doshi.
Kumble started his first-class career for Karnataka against Hyderabad in Secunderabad in November 1989. Khalid Qayyum was his first victim.
The break-up of Kumble's 850 wickets is: 392 in Tests, 182 in Ranji Trophy, 150 in English county cricket, 28 in Irani Trophy, 22 in Duleep Trophy, and 76 in other first-class matches.
