Ganguly was taken to the Fortis Hospital located near the Punjab Cricket Association stadium after he complained of pain in the left thigh after arriving for the team's afternoon practice session on Tuesday.

Ganguly spent nearly two hours at the hospital where he underwent minor surgery under anaesthesia, team sources said. The doctors attending on him said that he would require rest for at least the next 24 hours, throwing an element of doubt on his taking the field for the series decider beginning Oct 16.

Ganguly flew into Chandigarh this afternoon from Delhi but did not join the practice session although he was
present at the stadium.
