Fast bowler Rakesh Patel led the onslaught with a five-wicket haul as Baroda restricted Andhra Pradesh's first innings to a modest 230 on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group 'A' tie in Vadodara on Sunday.
Patel took five for 54 to demolish Andhra Pradesh while Irfan Pathan, Jr, (3 for 51) and Shekhar Joshi (2 for 33) also struck crucial blows.
Though Andhra Pradesh got a vital first innings lead of 14 runs, the three bowlers dashed their hopes of taking a huge lead.
Venu Gopal Rao scored 76 runs and his partnership of 103 runs for the fourth wicket with captain and wicket-keeper M S K Prasad helped Andhra take the vital lead after losing three wickets for 55 runs before the lunch break.
Andhra, resuming at the overnight total of 13 for one, lost Fiaz Ahmed and M Suresh for the addition of 42 runs.
At stumps, Baroda openers Satyajit Parab and Connor Williams were at the crease without opening their accounts.
