Hyderabad looked set for victory after Gujarat, chasing a target of 302, lost three early wickets on the penultimate day of the four-day Elite B group match at the Sardar Patel stadium at Motera on Sunday.
With one more day to go, Gujarat were placed in a precarious position at 75 for 3 at draw of stumps on the third day.
Earlier, resuming their second innings at overnight score of 27 for one, Hyderabad were skittled out for 185 though opener D Manohar and middle order batsman Arjun Yadav came up with decent knocks on a track that produced low bounce.
While Manohar contributed 45, Yadav made 44 in Hyderabad's second innings which was wrecked by pacer S Trivedi, who claimed four wickets for 45 runs.
Trivedi, who began his haul for Gujarat yesterday continued with the same vigour and added three more to his tally, striking at regular intervals.
Spinner Timil Patel also grabbed three wickets in his 10 over spell including that of Manohar, who was caught and bowled after making 45.
The hosts began their reply well as the two openers, N D Modi (15) and A V Christian (18), put on 36 runs for the first wicket.
But they were forced on to the backfoot when Vishnu Vardhan snapped two wickets in one over.
