New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris has been fined his entire match fee for showing dissent to the umpire during the tri-series match against India in Cuttack on Thursday.

Styris's celebrations for bagging the man-of-the-match award in the match, which his team won by four wickets, was cut short when he was hauled by match-referee Ranjan Madugulle and slapped a $2500 fine.

The batsman was adjudged leg before wicket by umpire A Jayaprakash off the bowling of left-arm spinner Murali Kartik  after scoring 68. But he appeared clearly unhappy with the decision and directed a few words at the umpire as he walked off to the pavilion.

According to sources Madugalle ruled Styris guilty of dissent but stopped short of suspending him, apparently after taking into account his excellent disciplinary record.

New Zealand manager Lindsay Crocker and captain Stephen Fleming were also present during the hearing.

New Zealand play their next match of the tri-series against Australia in Guwahati on Sunday.
