Punjab failed to earn any points and thus missed out on the semifinal birth as they drew with Mumbai in their Elite Group 'A' Ranji Trophy cricket match at Mohali on Sunday.
Defending champions Mumbai, who have already made it to the semis, earned two points and now have total 22 points while Punjab remain at 11.
Resuming at the over night score of 70 for five in reply to Mumbai's first innings total of 224 all out, the hosts were all out at 153 conceding a 71-runs lead.
The hosts reached some respectable total due to Amit Uniyal, who remained unconquered with 56 made with the help of five fours and one six.
Overnight batsman Samrat Sharma (11) made an exit without any addition while Chandan Madan (33) gave support to Uniyal before being out at the total of 124.
Gagandeep Singh (1), Navdeep Singh (four) and Vineet Sharma (1) failed to provide support to Uniyal.
For Mumbai, who were 181 for four as the play ended, some good batting performances were shown by Vinayak Mane (60), Bhavin Thakkar (50) and Romesh Pawar (36).
