In a bid to give the Indian 'A' squad, engaged in the Asian 'A' team tournament at Kolkata, greater chance to prove their mettle, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has deferred the selection for the triangular series in Australia to December 28.

"The selection for the triangular series in Australia has been deferred by two days to December 28 so that these boys get a couple of matches more to prove themselves," Syed Kirmani, Chairman of the senior selection committee, told newspersons on Wednesday.

He said the selectors would consider the performance of the Indian team in the Test series against the Aussies as also that of the India 'A' team in the ongoing Kenstar Cup and the recent India 'A' Test series against Sri Lanka 'A'.

The selectors, he said would pick up a 15-16 member team, depending on requirement, for the tri-series involving India, Australia and Zimbabwe beginning on January 9.

The issues like composition of the team, number of specialist bowlers, etc. would be decided after discussion with the team management in Australia through tele-conferencing, he said.
