Indian vice-captain Rahul Dravid's 233 was the third highest score by an Indian in Test cricket, behind Vangipurappu Laxman's 281 and Sunil Gavaskar's 236 not out, and the highest on foreign soil.
It was also the third-highest score at Adelaide Oval and the highest by a non-Australian. Only three foreigners have ever made a higher score in Australia, all at Sydney.
A look at the Indians who have scored double centuries in Test cricket.
