King Richards turns 50

The son of Malcolm Richards, who was for many years Antigua's leading fast bowler, Vivian excelled in football and cricket as a youngster.

He finally took to cricket and made his Test debut against India at Bangalore in 1974/75, coming in as a replacement for the injured Lawrence Rowe.

It didn't take him long to prove how destructive he could be, he scored 192 in his third Test innings at Delhi.

In his Test career, Richards scored 8,540 runs at an average of 50.23; still the most runs by a West Indian in the Test arena.
