                        The England elite: A special

Kenneth Frank Barrington

He wore the England colours with the greatest pride possible and batted as if the country’s future depended on him. He possessed all the strokes in the book but would play them only if he was sure it was safe to do so.

He started out as a flowing stroke-maker but by the time he toured India in 1961, and later in 1963, he became one of the hardest men in the world to dig out. It was famously said that he always seemed to walk to the wicket with the Union Jack trailing behind.
