and Boston, and elsewhere at an estimated cost of $4.2 million over the next few years.

Infosys Chairman and Managing Director N R Narayana Murthy said the company has opted for CA's technology solution over IBM's offer on account of the former's competitive edge in offering a better price-performance ratio and better returns on investment to its ever-growing business.

"We have decided to go for CA's Unicenter TNG after an elaborate proof-of-concept evaluation of it as well as IBM's technology performance and the cost of ownership," Murthy said.

The state of the art technology will enable CA to automate Infosys' entire IT infrastructure providing end to end enterprise management solutions in as many areas as networks, systems, databases, and applications, for providing an integrated an heterogeneous environment worldwide.

CA's India General Manager Ian Huges has said that initially, Unicenter TNC will be deployed at the Infosys site in Bangalore. It would control and monitor Infosys' multi-platform support system such as AIX, AS/400, HP/UX, Digital Alpha, Sun Solaris, Novell Netware and Windows NT servers and the IBM mainframe.
